To appreciate the wisdom of the bible, you will need to understand the mindset of the hebrew writers. The Hebrew people/writers used a metaphors in order to express themselves. Very powerful. A metaphor could have both, literal and metaphorical meaning. "Flesh" eating is symbolic of the "food of war". A person with a sword in their hand, even if they used it as part of a ritual sacrifice which the messianic prophets vehemently denounced, were called "people who delighted in war". When Daniel prophesized about the end of times wherein the methophors used were 3 ferocious animals that arose from the sea, and the command "to devour much flesh" was given, the metaphoric meaning was "war". The literal meaning is as is. Vegetarian instrumnents were instruments of peace. Which is why as per Prophet Ishiah, when the messiah came into the world, there would be absolute peace, because he would rebuke people to beat their swords into plough shares and spears into pruning hooks, and man will not know the art of war anymore and nation will not rise aqainst nation.
