Want Perfection?

21 “If you want to be perfect,” Jesus said to him, “go, sell your belongings and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.”  22 When the young man heard that command, he went away grieving, because he had many possessions. Matthew 19:21-22

A lady went to a special evening service at church one Sunday. There was an evangelist/musician featured who performed a number of songs in which the congregation was truly blessed. After the service, the lady spoke to him expressing her appreciation for the service. She said “I really enjoyed that music of yours! I wish I could play like that!

No you don’t!” he said with conviction.

Yes, I do!” she responded with slight irritation in her voice.

No, you really don’t,” he continued, “for if you really did you would have spent the time to learn!

That lady was just like the young man in Matthew that spoke with Jesus! That young man who spoke to Jesus wanted to have eternal life, but he didn’t want it bad enough to change his own life for it. You see, he was a rich young man. All that wealth was important to him – so much so that he was unwilling to give it up. The real sad thing is that he is right now in hell, writhing in misery and abject horror due to his decision to spend a couple more years with the wealth that he had. Now the wealth is gone forever – and he will pay for eternity his rejection of Jesus Christ as his messiah.

We still have time! We can choose Jesus today! Please, surrender to Jesus Christ today!
