Shine the LIght!

Also He said to them, “Is a lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Is it not to be set on a lampstand? For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light. If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Mark 4:21-23 NKJV)

We that are Christians (that is, having accepted the payment Jesus Christ made for our sins and surrendered to Him and His subsequent Lordship over our lives) are expected to “shine our lights” to those that are lost (i.e. have not accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord). We have been told this truth many times, and sometimes even obey! We all have many excuses as to why we only “shine” at certain times, why our “witnessing” is sporadic and inconsistent, and why we seem to be reluctant to tell the wonderful news of Jesus’ Salvation to others. However, most of those excuses are simply lame.

Sometimes we run into serious opposition to the truth of Jesus Christ. There are those that seem to be better at arguing than we are. We might be afraid of losing, and so we back off. Well, we are not to “win” arguments – we are to expose the truth! The “winning” is the job of the Holy Spirit! WE NEVER SAVE anyone! WE NEVER WIN an argument, or convince a person’s mind. It is ALWAYS the Holy Spirit that accomplishes that task. So, all we EVER have to do is to witness — tell the truth, share our story, know the Bible and share that!

Remember, the truth, the hidden, the secret — all will be revelated someday to all! There will come a time in which all will be understood. The truth, eventually, will be shinning forth in all of God’s Glory to all persons everywhere! What will happen to those that reject the gospel? They will ultimately find out that they were wrong, and pay that price themselves eternally in the punishment of hell! What a sad case for them! Our hearts should break on their behalf!

Our challenge for today: witness to someone about Jesus!
