Even So Come, Lord Jesus!
“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming–in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning– lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
(Mark 13:32-37 NKJV)
Such a comforting passage of scripture this is! We KNOW that sometime (soon, I believe) Jesus our Savior, Lord, Master, and Best Friend will come back here to this old earth and bring us up bodily into the air. He will be there to meet us, and He will take us to our new home – bodily and alive! Our bodies will become just like His, and we will not hurt anymore! What a glorious promise this is! The best thing is: it will actually happen, and soon!
This parable tells us that we do not know when this will happen. We must, however, be expectant of it’s imminent occurrence and live our lives in such a way as to reflect that truth! Our lives must show others as well as Jesus Himself that we expect His return and live that way! Do we behave in a holy manner? Do we put Jesus first before all other aspects of our lives? Do we spend our free time doing something that brings Jesus Christ glory? Do we ask Him for the privilege of sharing this truth with others that may not know Him yet?
Let’s live for Jesus the way HE wants us to! And then we can say with all honesty “even so come, Lord Jesus!”
