Fear or Respect?
Those who oppose the LORD will be shattered; He will thunder in the heavens against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. He will give power to His king;He will lift up the horn of His anointed. (1 Samuel 2:10 HCSB)
I would not want to be on the receiving end of the LORD’s judgment! Earlier verses in the passage clearly spell out the Sovereignty of God! God humbles or exalts, raises or lowers, brings poverty or wealth – depending upon HIS Will. I love the Lord Jesus, and serve Him. He is my Savior, my Friend, my Helper .. but He also is Almighty! He is Sovereign! The Bible clearly states that God “.. is not a man that He should lie..” meaning that whatever HE states WILL happen and be! So, if there are stated consequences to opposing Him, I know that those consequences are real! I want no part of them! So a certain amount of respect is demanded! I will fear the Lord, in that my respect for Him and Who He is dictates concern on my part to be obedient.
It is possible that many of you have no clue how to do this. Well, my advice is to talk to God and ask Him to show you. HE will! Believe me.
